Supporting unpaid carers of adults with a learning disability in Torbay

As this is a pilot, we aim to respond to the ideas and needs of carers in Torbay. Let us know how you would like us to develop the service.

Torbay Carers Service is funding a pilot for a service for unpaid carers aged 60 and under (or slightly over, but young at heart!) who care for an adult with a learning disability in Torbay.

At the moment, we offer the following:

Information

This may be a one-off query you have about something connected to learning disability or caring, or we can add you to our mailing list to receive regular information (approximately once a month).

Health and Wellbeing checks

As a carer, you are entitled to a carer’s health and wellbeing check. This is the opportunity for you to think and talk about how being a carer impacts on all areas of your life.

We are able to carry out health and wellbeing checks. Alternatively, you can access them through your GP Carer Support Worker, or from Carers Aid Torbay.

Carers Group

Friendly, informal get-togethers with information, peer support and refreshments. We often have a guest speaker at the meetings providing information on a topic requested by, or relevant to, carers. These meetings are currently held once a month in the evening in Paignton, but let us know if you would be interested in a group being set up at another venue or time.
